This month, the American consulting firm Gartner , known for predicting technological trends, released the 10 points that could set the tone for technology this coming year.
These main trends should be evaluated by business architecture and technological innovation leaders to identify opportunities, counter threats and create a competitive advantage. The list is as follows:

  1. Autonomous devices: Autonomous, intelligent and coordinated physical and virtual units. Phones, cars, bracelets, robots, among other devices that will interact in a much more natural way with humans and the environment.
  2. Augmented analytics: The combination of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence will allow analytical content to be treated in a much broader way. The value of citizen data will be used to optimize decision-making.
  3. AI-driven development: New applications will involve AI developers. These new capabilities will drive a new data science (augmented analytics) to the ability to automate the functions of objects around us.
  4. Digital Twins: A digital twin is a digital version of a real-world entity or system. Any physical asset, from a person to a tree, can be replicated. By 2020, Gartner estimates there will be more than 20 billion connected sensors and endpoints, and digital twins will be prevalent in potentially millions of things.
  5. Empowered computing: Edge computing and cloud computing will be complementary concepts. There will be no reliance on centralized data servers. The so-called “edges” or “perimeters” will now be accessible. This intelligent processing will enable the explosion of IoT devices, while the emergence of 5G will make communication more robust.
  6. Immersive Experience: Augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality are changing the way people perceive the digital world. The future will be an ambient experience. Humans will experience new sensations with these new tools. This combined shift in perception and interaction models leads to the next immersive user experience.
  7. Blockchain: In addition to solving trust issues with third parties, streamlining operations and improving corporate transactions, blockchain will open up a world of new applications. This will generate $3.1 trillion in business by 2030.
  8. Smart spaces: Smart spaces are a journey, not a destination. They are physical or digital environments in which humans and technology-enabled systems interact in increasingly open, connected, coordinated and intelligent ecosystems. The software and sensors that make, for example, a swimming pool, a car and a park smart will now be more accessible to everyone.
  9. Digital ethics and privacy: People are increasingly concerned about the way their personal information is being used by organizations. This data is supposed to be handled confidentially, but this is not always the case, which is why ethics will be a trend.
  10. Quantum computing: Quantum computers are a highly scalable and parallel computational model. They are theoretically capable of working on millions of calculations at a time. In the form of a commercially available, affordable and reliable service, they would transform some industries.

At Aligare we are aware that strategic technological trends have the potential to boost a company and provide a significant opportunity. In the last 2 years we have dedicated ourselves to strengthening our knowledge in these new sciences, especially with regard to artificial intelligence, the potential of cloud services and smart transactions offered by Blockchain, in order to deliver all the security and privacy that our clients deserve.
