CyberDay Chile 2019 concluded on Wednesday, May 29, and the numbers are already encouraging. The event, which was organized by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS) and brought together 371 e-commerce sites, generated more than 2 million transactions, an outstanding 55% more than those registered last year.
During the 3 days of the event, the participating sites received more than 100 million visits, accumulating purchases for US$ 258 million. These indicators corroborate the good stage that e-commerce is experiencing in Chile, adding new players from both the supply and demand sides, with a high penetration in consumer habits.
Thanks to these results, it is estimated that e-commerce will contribute around 4 percentage points to the growth of Chilean retail trade in May and about half a point to the Imacec. This figure is not insignificant if we consider that retail sales barely reached 0.3% in the first quarter and that the Imacec has been below 2% for three months.
Another aspect highlighted by the CCS is that just over 60% of visits to the official site were made through mobile devices, thus surpassing all previous records. Likewise, sales made using mobile phones approached 40% for the first time.
The association also expressed its satisfaction with the performance of the participating companies and payment methods, the coordination with Transbank, and the smooth operation of the official website.
