According to the Capgemini Research Institute’s “Retail superstars: How unleashing AI across functions offers a multi-billion dollar opportunity” study, more than a quarter (28%) of retailers are using Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is a significant increase from 17% last year and is seven times higher than the 4% estimated in 2016.

For this report, 400 retailers from around the world who are investing in AI at different stages of progress were analyzed, and who together represent 23% of the international retail market.

Capgemini also estimates that the sector could save more than $300 billion by 2022 if AI becomes more widespread and widespread within companies.

Another conclusion of the study was that 71% of retail companies stated that AI creates new jobs, 75% said that no job profile has been replaced due to AI so far, while the remaining 25% indicated that fewer than 25 jobs have been lost.

Furthermore, 98% of the companies surveyed expect the number of customer complaints to be reduced by up to 15%, and 99% expect AI to increase their sales by up to 15%.
